PLANTASTIC SINGAPORE

Singapore might be famous for being a concrete jungle, but there is a growing urban farm community that is slowly gaining popularity.

Spend a lovely morning shaking up the usual family fun routine and learn more about nature and dip your thumbs and fingers in some green!

Kin Yan Agrotech is Singapore’s largest commercial organic wheatgrass farm. Located near Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve, they produce and supply crops such as fresh edible cacti, pea shoots, aloe vera and mushrooms. Everything is 100% organic and pesticide free.

Discover the amazing qualities of wheatgrass and why it is amazing for you. Sometimes referred to as a blood elixir, this little green wheat is an amazing purifier with many health benefits that you’ll be able to see and feel.
You’ll also find out why mushrooms put the FUN in fungi, and say “Aloe You Vera Much” after knowing the story behind our food, and gain appreciation for the people who work to bring it to our tables.

Next, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and let our guide “Uncle Tony” teach you either on succulents / the art of terrarium making.

A Platinum Award winner of the PA STARS Trainer Awards 2015, Tony Yau (or Uncle Tony as he is affectionately known) has helped many schools with their gardening projects. He has shared his deep knowledge of gardening and instilled a love of nature to both students and teachers alike.

A terrarium is like an aquarium, but for plants instead of fish. It is made in just about any glass container. It is planted to look like a miniature garden or forest enclosed in its own little world.
It makes for a beautiful decorative piece of decor with minimal maintenance. Perfect for gifts!

You will not only get a hands-on experience to make your own little gardens, but will learn the history and the many types of terrariums and the different mediums used for bottled gardening.
Even total beginners with zero gardening experience can learn to make their own beautiful bottled gardens.

By now, you’ve definitely worked up an appetite and there’s no better place to be than at Bollywood Veggies. After a quick lunch, visit the private playground of a botanist where you have a chance to shop for your very own plant and start your own urban garden!
